This position serves as a Data Analyst providing a range of analytical support for the AVS ODA Office Organization Designation Authorization Office (AVS-60), in the Aviation Safety (AVS) organization. The incumbent will be assigned to the Data and Assessments Section (AVS-61). The Data Analyst will utilize simple and complex analytical techniques, data mining, and statistical analysis in the development of solutions to enhance data-driven decision-making.
Duties
Applies experience in systems thinking, including risk-based decision-making and analytical and evaluative techniques, to conduct functional activities for projects/programs that often require developing new and innovative approaches. This work is critical to track and monitor emerging trends or risks in AVS Delegation Programs.
Utilizes database systems to extract information and then performs analysis on such data; in addition, builds reports by utilizing readily available publishing programs.
Conducts research using software applications to retrieve and analyze systems data as well as identifies issues and recommends improvements to information systems.
Analyze, design and develop data to support management decision making by utilizing Business Intelligence products and at times SQL.
Analyzes and evaluates techniques to conduct functional activities for programs/projects and work activities.
Uses data collection, transformation, cleaning, analysis, and reporting software, tools, and databases such as Excel, PowerBI, Structured Query Language or Alteryx;
Identifies, analyses, and extracts data from a variety of source databases as well as performing data analysis and improving program effectiveness and efficiency.
Identifies discrepancies in data and maintains it in a data management system, while recommending solutions to data discrepancies and creating reports in response to data requests.
Collects data using Business Intelligence (BI) tools and other application software such as SAP Business Objects, Alteryx, and Appian to collect, analyze, and transform data into actionable information. Provides management with data-driven business insights to enhance decision-making. Analyzes and evaluates technical information, operational information, and functions to review and analyze amassed data. Creates reports, dashboards, and data visualization to improve decision-making and increase operational efficiency.
Performs multiple, varying, and complex assignments under the minimal direction of a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced professional. May act as a contributing specialist on large work activities or as a project manager or team leader for large projects/programs/activities.
Applies experience and comprehensive knowledge applicable to his/her discipline to plan and conduct functional activities for projects/
programs. Assignments frequently require knowledge and experience working across functional and/or organizational lines.
Typical assignments may include providing guidance to less-experienced professionals; leading small project/program teams; designing and recommending solutions to complex problems; preparing and reviewing management reports and/or contractual documents; and developing and recommending improvements to systems and/or processes to improve operational efficiency.
